In this teaser for the latest season of Gold Rush, Discovery wanted us to highlight the Yukon not just as a setting—but as a force brought to life through animation.

This project required a wide range of different animation techniques, but at it’s core the animation was based on paintings created in photoshop.

I wanted each frame to feel as though it had life, letting the natural boil and imperfection find it’s way into the final video. Through atmospheric lighting, and parallax, I aimed to add depth and scale, while maintaining the organic look created in  frame-by-frame animation.
