Walls (Tom Petty) – Plastic Ants Cover
This music video was a chance to revisit my love for classic video games while reimagining a Tom Petty song through a nostalgic, pixel-art-inspired world. Using 2D animation in After Effects, I recreated the look and feel of an 8-bit game, designing characters, environments, and props in Illustrator to maintain a clean but retro aesthetic. The animation relied on frame-based character movement, mimicking the limited motion cycles of classic games, while parallax scrolling added depth to the floating landscapes. A carefully chosen limited color palette and pixelated textures helped reinforce the authentic 8-bit style, with subtle dithering effects preventing the visuals from feeling too polished. To further immerse viewers in the video game theme, I integrated s arcade-inspired UI elements to make entire piece feel like a lost classic from the NES era.
