For this true crime documentary, I developed a graphics package intended to immerse viewers in the unsettling complexity of Joran van der Sloot’s lies while maintaining a cohesive and cinematic aesthetic.

Animated Toolkits & Locators

The film follows a global investigation, requiring locator graphics that seamlessly integrate with drone footage across varied environments. To ensure a natural fit, I fine-tuned the color grading and lighting to match different climates and times of day. Camera movements were refined to enhance cohesion between animated elements and live-action cinematography, making each locator feel embedded in the footage rather than overlaid.

Title Sequence

The title sequence set the film’s ominous tone by incorporating fragmented, angular typography—symbolizing the fractured truths and deception central to the story. Imagery of victims and key locations was woven into the design to ground the visuals in the weight of real-life events. The sequence maintained a tactile, distressed aesthetic to further emphasize the psychological tension.

Through atmospheric motion design, layered textures, and deliberate pacing, I crafted a visual approach that reinforced the film’s themes of manipulation and hidden truths, heightening the narrative’s psychological depth.
